What is a Halloqueen?
A Halloqueen is a person that could be considered the number one fan of Halloween; someone who doesn't just view October 31st as a day for kids to Trick or Treat, but rather sees Halloween as an inspiration for how to live each day. A Halloqueen is the queen (or king) of Halloween, a person whose everyday home decor includes pumpkins, bats, ghosts, broomsticks, and so on.

The Origin of Halloqueen
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Alexandra and I am the creator of Lunar Light Co. My close friends and family have always known my love for Fall, especially October and Halloween. Not only is it a nostalgic time of year, but the scents, the food, the colors, the iconic decorations and imagery, the music, literally everything about Halloween made a huge impact on my life and who I am today. In fact, I've been calling myself Halloqueen for years--long before the days when you could go to stores and see Halloqueen t-shirts and socks on shelves. Anyway, as a young child, I preferred to read spooky stories and was more interested in Halloween books. All children's books always teach lessons and I'd much rather learn it from a ghost or a goblin.
As I became old enough to read on my own, the trend continued and I quickly fell in love with the Goosebumps and Fear Street series by R.L. Stine. Reading these spooky stories coincided with my early interests in movies, music, and art... which of course largely influenced who I am today.
Throughout elementary school, I always wanted to be something spooky because to me, that's what I saw Halloween as--spooky season. Halloween wasn't just a day of dressing up and going out in the neighborhood. Of course, I loved dressing up and going trick or treating, but Halloween is so much more than one day: it is going to the pumpkin patch, carving jack-o-lanterns, getting lost in corn mazes, bobbing for apples, and seeing decorations throughout the neighborhood. To me, there was, and is, no better time of year than October. It's fun, carefree, and the whole community comes together.
Being from a small town in Ohio, there's a certain smell in the air in October and the fall colors are truly remarkable. The fact that you can drive down almost any street, in any small town, and see carved pumpkins, zombies, skeletons, or cemeteries in people's front yards, is just such a fun thing.
A Brand is Born
Looking at who I am today, there is no doubt that my love for Halloween heavily influenced my interests, from my music and movie taste to how I dress. In my home year-round, you can find pumpkins, ghost, and monster decorations, and so many other Halloween-y decor items. I carry pumpkin-shaped purses year-round and often sport my 'Trick or Treat Expert' sweater. My love for Halloween also heavily inspired Lunar Light Co., a brand I created for fellow lovers of the dark, dreary, and all things Halloween.
If you browse through our collection of products, there is a clear theme. Every label, scent, and candle is inspired by something that I hold dear to me, and most of these things are spooky, can be considered goth, or are Halloween adjacent.
When I first started Lunar Light Co, my goal was to bring my love for unique scents to other people. As many candle enthusiasts know, Fall scents are some of the most popular. I wanted to make them available year-round, and not just through unique, earthy, and magical fragrances, but through inspired names and artwork. But, as a lover of Halloween, I knew I had to offer a special, seasonal Halloween line as well.
The custom-blended Halloween fragrances include notes of baked pumpkin, fallen leaves, cinnamon, apple cider, and other great seasonal aromas. Each year, I devote countless hours redesigning the labels and working on new candle releases to make our Halloween collection even more special.
In 2020, I came up with a new fragrance, which I believe is the ultimate fall scent. It was released as a limited-edition, seasonal perfume under the name Halloqueen and received rave reviews. In 2021, Halloqueen was released as a candle for the first time. Today, in 2022, exactly halfway to Halloween, I am happy to announce that Halloqueen will now be part of our permanent collection and remain available year-round as one of our signature scents.
